Here are some reviews for The Nature of Mindset:
"A fascinating look into a surprising gap in psychological research to date. Mindset is a much used word, yet there is little coherence around where it came from, what it is and why it matters. This book does an excellent job of starting a new dialogue to remedy that." - Simon Haan, Leadership Coach, Wellbeing Science Facilitator and Consultant
"This book is both a stunning amalgamation of mindset research, perspectives and lineage and an invitation to view mindset through a wider lens that is awareness-based and trauma informed. Buchanan eases us into a comprehensive page turning journey using nature as a metaphor to blow open space for emerging possibilities in personal growth. His Mindset Awareness Practice (MAP) has changed my journey forward and my relationship with the people and social systems I spin in. For this, I am grateful." - Kathy Washburn, Positive Psychology Life Coach and founder Carved by Cancer, Inc.
âYou could call The Nature of Mindset a field-guide, a reflective practice, a taxonomy, and a framework for understanding mindset and still fall short of the ultimate invitation to the conscious effort of examining how you (I/we/us) make sense of ourselves, each other, and the world. It is a call to action (the leave your house and get messy kind) built on the hope that we might find our way back to connection while navigating the complexity of being a person on earth. Ash takes great care in grounding the journey in the existing wisdom of the field of mindset. He offers a framework as a method of examining mindsets and how they operate within and around us, but creates a delicate balance between the security of categories and patterns to observe and the liberation of exploration, conversation, curiosity, and embodied reflective practice performed in the real world. It describes the overwhelming complexity of being in a way that is familiar and yet so novel. I will carry its questions with me for a long time.â - Lauren Van Krimpen, Learning & Community Lead, Ylab
âIn The Nature of Mindset, Ash Buchanan takes his readers on a transformative journey, grounding them in a vast review of mindset lineage. He explores with his readers how states, conditions, and stages shape perceptions and actions, refining awareness of the environments influencing mindset patterns. Delving into the interconnectedness of mind, body, and social systems, he reframes the discussion from controlling mindset 'shifts' to nurturing 'sync'âa state of harmony within ourselves and our systems. An insightful guide for engaging in mindset-aware systems change.â - Doug Della Pietra, Senior Director, Patient Experience, Rochester Regional Health
âAn insightful journey revealing a new era of profound human development. It moves beyond popular rhetoric to explore collective practices in the emerging field of mindset. The author compassionately guides us towards sensing the patterning within all of us. This patterning shapes us and, in turn, creates the world we live in. Through this lens, readers are invited to participate in bringing a new reality into being. Beautifully intriguing!" - David L Wright, Wellbeing and Health Organisation (Australia)
âAsh Buchanan is a leading mindset researcher deeply exploring our inner power for personal and systems transformation. The Nature of Mindset uniquely weaves together important perspectives of the multi-disciplinary mindset field. In addition to new theoretical insights, it offers practical suggestions for real life application.â - JĂŒrgen Nagler, UNDP Advisor and Mindset Researcher
